I based a ‘monster attack’ sequence on Sun Wukong's assault on Bone Demon's cave (白骨精) to save his master, who was kidnapped and about to be eaten.
However, Wukong, the traditional hero, is treated as the invader in this storyboard. It is to subvert the hero-villain tropes and give more weight to Bone Demon, who is an evocative and fascinating character herself.
